Fire damage restoration involves restoring a property damaged by fire and smoke to its original condition. This process can take weeks or months due to the disaster’s destructive nature. In contrast, water damage restoration, which includes water mitigation and drying out the property, can often be completed within days. Fire restoration tasks may include boarding up the property, demolition, reconstruction, debris removal, odor and soot elimination, contents cleaning, and the removal of hazards like lead and asbestos. Notably, fire and water damage frequently occur together. Initially, the property is soaked with water to control and put out the fire. Sometimes, pipes may also burst or melt during the fire, causing additional water damage. Thus, the first step after securing the property is to remove any remaining water to prevent further damage.
