This is me. December 2011, Dallas, Texas. I don't like being photographed. I love taking photos. Kent Barker, an incredible photographer who lived at South Side on Lamar took this photo. He is one of a few photographers that would sit for. The afro is my go to style and for it to be blonde even better. I loved the shock value. My black skin makes it look even better. It was intimidating for some and loved by others. It was a sign of freedom for me.

As I was craving the HOPE block to accompany the Adrinkra symbol I thought about the challenges we have faced as world, country, cities and personally. It made me smile. There is HOPE. HOPE comes with work, patience, love, honesty, peace, humbleness, and trust. I am looking deep to find it and live it. I HOPE a you will too.
