Last week I attended the Texas Women’s Foundation Leadership Forum and Awards Celebration as a guest of former Maura Award winner and community champion, Lynn McBee.

Full circle moment for me—I worked at Dallas Women’s Foundation (now Texas Women’s Foundation) during the early days of this event, so being back in the room felt both nostalgic and grounding.

One moment that stayed with me:

“Clarity comes from the chaos. We bloom together or we wilt alone.”

That—and the reminder to rest, return to your lane, and redesign the system—hit differently in this season.

Especially as I continue showing up in spaces I once stepped away from, with renewed clarity about the work I’m building and the impact I’m here to make.

Congratulations to the Maura Award winners and Young Leader Award honorees—and thank you, Lynn, for the invitation.

Monday, I was in the room—and I was listening.

Across my work in Texas and Louisiana, I’m always paying attention to how nonprofit leaders are being supported… and who’s shaping that support.

Because it matters.

And yes, I asked the question: How are we ensuring services are informed by diverse voices and lived experiences?

That part matters just as much as the strategy.

More to come. ✨

There’s something special about being in rooms where you don’t have to explain your why.

This week at the ABFE Harambee Conference in San Francisco, I was in community with Black foundation leaders from across the nation committed to investing in our people, our stories, and our future.

It felt like a family reunion.

Grateful to Foundation for Louisiana for the opportunity and to ABFE for creating space where we don’t just show up… we thrive.

A huge thank you to the Joyful Ones who’ve been with us for 2, 3… even 4 Joyful Hours 🤎

It’s the early believers, the ones who show up, lean in, and help shape the space, who make all the difference.

You’re building this with us, and we appreciate your dedication.

Thanks for being part of the journey.

I’ve been in a lot of rooms… but this one stayed with me.

This week, I joined an intimate group of nonprofit CEOs for a Narrative Tour conversation and whew… it was powerful.

Real dialogue.
Shared experiences.
Collective vision.

And a reminder why I created Joyful Hour.

Join us Wednesday, April 15 in DeSoto.

Yesterday I shared my Q1 impact…

Today, I’m celebrating the team behind it. 🖤

I didn’t do this work alone.

Building with brilliant Black women across marketing, operations, and fund development:
✨ Jessica Rhodes (Standor Co.)
✨ Quay Childress (SOCL Luxe)
✨ Jessica Jones (not pictured)

And shout out to Courtney Paige (Fore the Vibes) for holding me down this season đź’›

This was intentional.

Walking into Q2 with gratitude for this team and everything we’re building together.

Let’s work. 💼✨
