⭐️Important Personal Announcement from our Founder & CEO, Suzanne Smith, MBA⭐️

For years, people have told me, “You should write a book.” The truth is - I never wanted to write a book just to write a book. I wanted it to actually be useful.

The Nonprofit Flywheel grew out of years of classrooms, retreats, strategy sessions, experiments and conversations with nonprofit leaders trying to build organizations that last.

And, it just evolved into a book. 📖
This week’s blog shares more about the launch and how you can help.

We also created a QUICK SURVEY https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/nonprofitflywheel where you can:
✔ Vote on our top 4 book covers
✔ Suggest podcasts for interviews
✔ Share testimonials
✔ Join the preorder list
✔ Volunteer as a launch ambassador

I would truly value your thoughts. You have been part of this journey and I cannot imagine it without you.

🇺🇸 Message from our Founder & CEO, Suzanne Smith, MBA 🇺🇸

Memorial Day always reminds me that healthy communities do not happen by accident.
They are built by people willing to serve something larger than themselves.

Today, I’m thinking with gratitude about those who sacrificed for our country, as well as the many people across the social sector working every day to strengthen communities and care for others.

That idea is woven throughout the blog I shared this week: significance is rarely something we build alone.

Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day.

⭐️From our Founder & CEO, Suzanne Smith, MBA , MBA⭐️

One of the things I love about long holiday weekends is that they create space to reflect.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference between success and significance.
Success is often individual. The degree. The title. The promotion. The accomplishment.

Significance is shared.
- It’s the people you helped grow.
- The team you built.
- The community that became stronger because you showed up.

So much of what has mattered most in my career came through conversations with students, nonprofit leaders, communities and people trying to build something meaningful together.

⭐️This week’s blog is really a reflection on that 30-year journey.
Mostly, though, it is a note of gratitude.

A great nonprofit leader does more than solve problems. They create the conditions for others to lead, innovate and grow.

In our blog we revisit the idea of becoming a “force multiplier” - increasing impact not by working harder alone, but by equipping teams, boards and communities to thrive together.

Especially in today’s environment, nonprofit resilience depends on organizations that can multiply leadership, knowledge and momentum across the entire mission.

What separates organizations that struggle from those that create exponential impact? Often, it’s not more resources. It’s learning how to become a force multiplier.

In this week’s blog we explore how nonprofit leaders can move beyond simply “doing good” and instead design organizations that expand the capacity, leadership and impact of everyone around them.

For nonprofit leaders, this is an important reminder: sustainable impact is built through systems, culture and shared leadership - not heroic exhaustion.

One of my favorite additions to my new website – MeetSuzanne.com – is my first official speaker sizzle reel. 🎞️

Seeing my 30 years of classrooms, conferences, nonprofit leaders and community moments come together in a few minutes was more emotional than I expected.

The blog I shared this week talks a lot about the difference between success and significance, and the reel reminded me how much of this journey was built alongside other people.

Huge gratitude to the team at Outspeak for bringing it to life and to everyone who shared photos, encouragement and support along the way. My journey is better because of the people alongside me!

⭐️ From our Founder & CEO, Suzanne Smith, MBA

Memorial Day weekend usually means road trips, airports, backyard conversations and maybe finally catching your breath after a busy spring.

One of the things I added to my new website is a collection of podcast interviews on nonprofit leadership, resilience, emotional intelligence, volunteerism, social entrepreneurship and the future of the social sector.

This week’s blog talks a lot about the people and conversations that shaped my work over the last 30 years, and these podcasts are part of that story too.

If you’re looking for something thoughtful to listen to this weekend, I’d love for you to explore them.

One of the conversations I often have with my students is about the difference between success and significance.
Success is often individual. Significance is shared.

As I celebrate 17 years with Social Impact Architects and 30 years in the social sector, I’ve been reflecting on how much of this journey was shaped by my village — clients, students, colleagues, podcast hosts, readers and friends who challenged me, encouraged me, trusted me and helped me grow along the way.

Today’s blog is a personal one.

I’m sharing the launch of my new speaking and thought leadership website, MeetSuzanne.com complete with sizzle reel, announcing my first book, The Nonprofit Flywheel, and inviting this community to help shape what comes next.

Mostly, though, it is a note of gratitude.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. And, here’s to creating a nonprofit sector that is built for impact and sustainability.

One thing many nonprofit leaders discover over time:
The most resilient organizations are usually not the biggest.
They are the most intentional.

The strongest organizations often do a few things consistently well:
• Clarify priorities
• Make decisions faster
• Distribute leadership
• Talk honestly about risk
• Adapt before crisis forces them to
• Build cultures where people can recover, not just perform

In this week’s blog we share practical strategies nonprofit organizations can use to strengthen resilience, along with a simple assessment leadership teams can use to identify where they are strongest - and where they may be more fragile than they realize. https://socialimpactarchitects.com/resilient-nonprofits/

Which of these is the hardest in the nonprofit sector and why?
