Meet Lee Vance, Army Veteran and Apex Project Manager
Lee Vance, HR Project Manager at Apex Fintech Solutions, is proud to be a veteran of the United States Army. Today, we’d like to honor and thank him for his service to our country.
“I dedicated 12 years of service in the United States Army, taking my oath in 2003 in my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi,” Lee says. “I was following in the footsteps of my father and uncles, who instilled in me the values of honor, courage, and commitment.” For Lee, this meant rigorous training at Fort Jackson, SC, and specialized instruction as a Petroleum Supply Specialist at Fort Lee, Virginia.
His military career would soon take Lee around the world. His first assignment was in Fort Lee, VA, where he was assigned to the 49th Group, 240th QM Battalion, 58 QM Unit. “I served as a Fueler, supporting vital operations before the unit was deactivated,” he says. From there, he was deployed to Iraq in 2005, where he operated gun trucks and transported supplies across Iraq. Lee then opted for a voluntary mission with the Joint Special Operations Command in Iraq from 2007 to 2008. After returning from his second tour of Iraq, he was stationed in Korea. Then he was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Cavalry Division out of Fort Bragg, NC. Within a year his unit deployed to Afghanistan, where he spent another year conducting operations. Finally, in 2015, Lee received an honorable discharge at Fort Hood, TX.
Lee has reflected on his experience in the Army. “I embraced challenges, exemplified resilience, and upheld the legacy of my family's military tradition,” he says. “These experiences have shaped me into a disciplined, adaptable, and steadfast individual, ready to take on new challenges in civilian life while carrying the lessons and values from my military service.”
In particular, he sees how his military career has informed his current role as a project manager. “I excel in project planning and ex*****on due to my disciplined approach and attention to detail,” Lee says. “Additionally, my leadership abilities, adaptability, and problem-solving skills enable me to navigate challenges and guide diverse teams effectively. Clear communication and collaborative teamwork are essential aspects of my approach, ensuring that project goals are well-understood and achieved. Overall, my military background equips me with the qualities necessary for successful project management in the civilian/corporate environment.”
Lee, we value the skills you bring to the table, the service you did for our country, and most of all, we appreciate you.
