During the pandemic, Michael took on a leadership role within Apple’s diversity networks. He sought to help others share what it means to them to be Asian American — bringing people together in community and solidarity. Thank you, Michael, for your tireless acts of service to make sure everyone feels welcome.

“During the early days of the pandemic, people like me became the target of hate. I knew that I wasn’t alone. I discovered some amazing groups at Apple that were made to bring people together to celebrate diversity, share life experiences, and make sure they are being heard. Once I found a community that helped me feel safe and supported, I wanted everyone to have the same positive experience and I worked hard to invite in even more people. Whatever I could do to help others feel safe through a sense of community, I was determined to make happen. I’ve learned so much from all the amazing people I spoke with and found friendships that otherwise would not exist.” – Michael

Posted • .at.apple Happy Asian Pacific American Heritage Month! One of the best things about Apple is the exceptional people who we are fortunate to call our teammates. With that, I’m delighted to introduce Air B. from Apple Chandler Fashion Center. Air moved to the U.S. from Thailand and created a life here while staying close to her roots. She organizes potlucks for her store, which she says fosters a deeper connection, understanding, and appreciation with her fellow team members. Air lit up when talking about her love for cooking and sharing her culture and heritage with others.

"Often, people don’t understand what it’s like to be Asian. I want my team to know more about that experience. I’m very proud of my upbringing, and in Thai families, we learn a lot about each other during mealtime. I love sharing this tradition with my team. When we have open-minded conversations as we share meals together, I learn so much about them and they get to learn more about me and my Thai heritage. When all cultures unite to celebrate our similarities and differences, we can work better together to do something good, even great for everyone!
