The VA rescinded the controversial ruling that stated if the prescribed medication improved your condition, they could revaluate you and lower your rating if the medication helped your condition improve.

That's great news for veterans!

If you are have an open claim or appeal, you can use the VA claim tracker to get detail insight on the status of your claim. It is a chrome extension that provides Information like documents you and the VA uploaded, last time your claim was touched by the VA, items tracked by the VA internally, and estimated completion date, and more. Hope this helps!

Do You Know What Your VA C-File Is?
(If not, this could be the missing piece in your claim.)

The VA C-File (Claims File) is the VA’s master folder on you. It contains the exact records the VA uses to decide your disability claims.
Here is what's inside:
• Your Service Treatment Records (STRs) from active duty
• VA medical records
• Past rating decisions & codesheets
• C&P exam reports
• Prior claims, denials, and appeal documents
• Evidence the VA already has on you
Any crucial information the VA used to determine your claim is in your C-File.

Many veterans file claims without ever seeing what the VA is actually reviewing, which can lead to denials, underrated conditions, or missed opportunities. Now you know!
Good luck vets!

Did you know that you could file VA claim for a condition that started after leaving the military? Most veterans don't know that if your condition started within 1 year after leaving the military, you can still file a claim.
We all know some condition may not be apparent soon as they occur. If this is you, don't leave money on the table. File a claim to get the compensation you earned! Good luck!

If you are thinking about filing a claim, go ahead and do an intent to file. The reason why this is so important is the intent to file is essentially your effective start date for your claim. You have up to a year from your ITF date to file a claim.

For example, if you filed the intent to file today, filed your claim in May, and the VA made a favorable decision by August, you could receive backpay from today's date. A rating increase from 60 to 90 is nearly $7500 in back pay! Plus you will get the pay for your 90% rating in the amount of $2362.30. That's nearly $9900. More if you have dependents. I've seen a lot of veterans not know exactly how the VA calculates their disability rating. The VA actually has a calculator and chart on the VA.gov website. It takes all of the guess work out of figuring out how your rating is calculated. Here is the link: https://www.va.gov/disability/about-disability-ratings/

We assign you a disability rating based on the severity of your service-connected condition. We use your disability rating to determine how much disability compensation you’ll receive each month, as well as your eligibility for other VA benefits. If you have multiple disability ratings, we use them...
