The labor shortage persists, but so does physical AI! 🦾

Physical AI refers to intelligent robotic systems that can autonomously handle tasks. In a high-mix SKU environment where personnel is limited, having a robot that can reliably pick objects can be the difference between a high-throughput facility and a warehouse that struggles to process its orders.

See what else physical AI is capable of on the SICK AG Sensor Connection blog:

If you've ever worked in a manufacturing plant or production facility, you know floor space is PRECIOUS. So instead of organizing every machine horizontally...why not build them upward? 🤔

SICK AG's blog post explains the recent uptick in U.S. consumer goods companies bringing their manufacturing back home, and how this has driven a new type of layout on the production floor. Solar panels don't just hold themselves up. They need piles (steel beams) dug into the ground to provide a solid foundation. But how does that happen?

Sensors, precision, and a lot of planning. See how SICK AG sensors help Built Robotics autonomously drive solar piles on the SICK Sensor Connection blog!

Is this the industrial version of the old adage “two heads are better than one”? I think so!
Stretch wrapping and palletizing are two very common end-of-line processes in the consumer goods space. These processes, however, typically happen in separate places—which adds time and increases the physical footprint of your operation.

But what if… you combined stretch wrapping and palletizing? 🤯

That’s exactly what TopTier has done with their next-generation TTX palletizer, featuring concurrent stretch wrapping.

See how SICK and TopTier worked together to make this innovation possible on the SICK Sensor Connection blog.

Customer Win of the Week (Week 2)

This weekend reminded me what kind of company we’re building at Industrial Automation Products.

On Sunday, one of our customers had a drive go down and their production was at risk.

They called Kollian.

He took the call, walked them through troubleshooting step-by-step over the phone, and helped get them back up and running — without a service visit.

No downtime.
No waiting until Monday.
Just support when it mattered most.

That’s what “Above & Beyond” looks like.

This week’s Above & Beyond winner: Kollian 👏

If you've worked with conveyors, you know boxes and packages can get in a JAM 💥 That’s why SICK added the standalone WTT12 Jam Detect sensor to its portfolio of laser distance sensors.
You can keep packages flowing with easy setup—mount the sensor, aim the laser, teach it in, and you're done! The sensor sends a signal over a standard M12 connection or IO-Link as soon as it detects a jam.
