Our back-to-school giveaway with The Berkshire Eagle was once again a great success. Families stopped by the Eagle's Pittsfield office last Thursday to pick up free backpacks filled with classroom essentials, indulge in sweet treats, and enjoy free rides on the Berkshire Carousel down the block!

The remaining backpacks were delivered to Muddy Brook Elementary, Pittsfield Public Schools, Williamstown Elementary, and the Central Berkshire Regional School District, putting them directly into the hands of students who need them most. Altogether, 1,000 backpacks were distributed to help children across our region start the school year ready to succeed.

🚨 7 Common Misconceptions About Trump Accounts 🚨

Understanding the ins and outs of Trump Accounts can save families a lot of confusion and potential financial pitfalls. Here are seven misconceptions I often hear from parents:

1️⃣ It's a College Savings Account: Incorrect! Trump Accounts are meant for retirement savings, not specifically for college. Consider a 529 plan for education.
2️⃣ Children Automatically Get $1,000: Unfortunately, this isn’t true for everyone; this pilot contribution is only for eligible children born between 2025 and 2028.
3️⃣ FOMO Requires Immediate Action: No need to rush! According to IRS guidelines, you have until your child turns 17 to claim any contributions.
4️⃣ You Must Download an App: Not necessary! You can set up the account using IRS Form 4547 during tax time without downloading anything new.
5️⃣ It's a Political Endorsement: Accepting the $1,000 contribution doesn’t mean you support any administration. It's about maximizing a financial benefit!
6️⃣ $5,000 Annual Contributions are Necessary: Only if it fits your goals. More suited for retirement, it's essential to assess your priorities, like education.

This past Friday, we said farewell to our three summer interns and we’re definitely going to miss having them around BMM! 💚

We’re so grateful for the energy, curiosity, and hard work they brought to BMM this summer. They quickly became part of the team and took on their roles with enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, and a willingness to learn.
