The article highlights how the market held steady despite a 43-day shutdown, with December endorsements rebounding +12% in December and Mutual of Omaha Mortgage leading the way for the entire year of 2025, based on RMI data.

After October’s shutdown-related pause and inflated November numbers, endorsements rebounded in December, rising +12%. All regions grew compared to their October/November averages and several lenders also showed growth.

RMI’s November 2025 HECM Lenders report is out! No HECMs were endorsed in October 2025, so November’s figures are inflated relative to a normal month due to delays resulting from the government shutdown.

In October/November 2025, HECM endorsements dropped -11.7% to 1,953 loans, although we suspect there is still some endorsement backlog to come in December which could mean this interpretation is conservative.
