Happy National Love Your Body Day.

The National Organization for Women launched Love Your Body Day in 1998 to “campaign to challenge the unrealistic beauty standards and gender stereotypes promoted by the media, Hollywood and the fashion, cosmetics and diet industries.”

According to Harmony Healthcare IT, “Overall, 79% have dealt with negative body image, and 80% of women have called themselves fat.”

I felt today was the perfect day to launch my Body Positivity division at Corey Lynne Agency. This division is to accept, encourage and help people of all body types, regardless of gender, size, shape, skin tone and those that are attracted to them have positive dating experiences. In my heart of hearts I feel this is a demographic that has been overlooked in the matchmaking industry.

I’m going to be offering group sessions to discuss dating, confidence building, health and wellness. I recognize that some of us in the Body Positivity community view ourselves as sexy and confident, while others don’t feel that way. I will eventually bring in stylists, food coaches and personal trainers to our monthly meetings. It’s important for me that this community is safe and feels heard. Both men and women are encouraged to participate.
