If you asked me what financial KPI you should check daily, I would say the Available Operating Cash.
Why? Because every decision you make—hiring, investing, paying yourself, or covering expenses—depends on knowing how much money is actually available to run your business.
That's different from simply looking at your overall bank balance.
Right now, your bank account may include money that will be earmarked for:
✔️ Taxes
✔️ Owner's pay
✔️ Profit
✔️ Future expenses
The key is creating a system that tells you what your money is meant to do instead of wondering if you can afford something.
One of my favorite ways to do this is by using multiple business bank accounts, following the Profit First method. It gives every dollar a purpose and makes it much easier to see how much operating cash is truly available.
