Born Ranches

Born Ranches is owned and operated by Stan and Weston Born of Darrouzett and Gruver, Texas. The ranch headquarters is located just south of Darrouzett along the Kiowa creek, and began just prior to the dispersal of the purebred Hereford cow herd. They purchased their first purebred cattle in 1947. The herd was based on the genetics of HDR Real Onward 166. Born Ranches has turned its focus strictly

to raising quality Hereford and Shorthorn show steers and heifers. The ranch, now in its twenty seventh(2014) year of focusing exclusively on show cattle for youth, is proud of its success and can't wait to see what the future holds. The Hereford cow herd consists of ranch raised females retained from the purebred herd. We also have implemented an intensive AI and embryo transfer program, so that we can stay ahead in producing top quality genetics. We retain many daughters from these programs to help make our genetics unique and consistent. In the spring of 2001 we implemented the Shorthorn cows to help better serve our customers. We purchased the top females from the Venable Shorthorn herd located in Verden, Oklahoma. These females are dams or sisters to many champions including the Reserve Grand steer in San Antonio in 1997 and Champion Shorthorn steer in Ft. Our goal at Born Ranches is to market affordable quality show cattle that are successful and meet the demands of today's cattle industry.
