One River Place

One River Place One River Place is a historic building on the Davenport side of the Mississippi River It has never flooded from the River.

One River Place is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks and was constructed in the 1860's as Shield's Woolen Mill. It was later a carpentry shop, a furniture manufacturer and casket manufacturer through the depression of the 1930's. The building has a rich history of tenants and caretakers including architectural engineering firms, advertising agencies, art galleries, a health spa, barbe

r shop, environmental consultants, realty firms, and international import/export brokers. This historic building overlooks the Mississippi River and the Davenport Sailing Club on East River Drive. It is home to many private businesses and offices. One River Place is managed by owner, Molly Newell, so no third party fees for suite rentals. A leased office at One River Place includes utilities, free parking, easy access to downtown, easy access to the bridges, and is a ten minute drive to anywhere in the Quad Cities.

Michelle Juehring Named MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year

We are thrilled to share that our very own Race Director, Michelle Juehring, has been selected as the 2025 MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year!

The MarathonFoto/Road Race Management Race Director of the Year Award (presented by MYLAPS Sports Technology) recognizes excellence in race directing, with nominees evaluated on creativity, organizational ability, leadership, and the overall reputation of their event.

This is the second time in history the Quad-City Times Bix 7 has received this honor — the first was Ed Froehlich in 1993 — and Michelle becomes just the 8th woman in the award’s 38-year history to be recognized.

Michelle shares: "It’s an incredible honor — not just for me, but for our entire Quad-City Times Bix 7 organization and our Quad Cities community. Everyone who has ever run the Bix, volunteered on race weekend, supported a participant, partnered with us as a sponsor, or helped carry our traditions forward is part of this recognition. This award reflects the collective heartbeat and strength of our community, and I’m deeply grateful."

The award will be presented at the Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting Welcome Reception on Monday evening, December 8, 2025.
