Market Report 10/04 and 10/06
Saturday’s Annual Carload Feeder Special and Monday’s Inland Northwest Fall Feeder Classic featured near 3,000 head of calves and yearlings, and a market that was on fire both days. Saturday’s run was mostly five to seven weight calves right off the cow, and demand was fantastic, especially for calves with 2 rounds of vaccinations. 400-500 weight steers brought up to $562.00, and averaged $514.00, with heifers bringing up to $485.00. 500-600 weight steers hit $485.00, with an average of $449.35, while heifers sold for $420.00 at the top. Steers weighing 600-700 pounds hit a high of $432.50, and averaged $410.15. Same weight heifers brought up to $390.00, and averaged $348.55. Steers in the 700-800 pound range sold for $387.00 and averaged $636.65. Monday’s Feeder Classic had another great run of calves and yearlings, though most in smaller consignments. The Monday sale averages were roughly similar, though the top end was $5-$10 cents lower, again due to fewer load lots. Monday’s slaughter cow market was higher from a week prior, bringing up to $187.00, and an average of $156.00-$161.00. Feeding type cows brought up to $227.50. Bred cows averaged $2815-$2900, up to $3100. Next Monday, October 13th, we’ll have an all class cattle sale. Our next Feeder Special will be Monday, October 20th. If you have any questions or would like to consign please give us a call anytime. We’d like to thank all our consignors and buyers for a great couple of days at Stockland, and also to our excellent crew for two smooth sale days.
