And day number two at the Dayton train show is underway.
WDTN was here, across from me looking at the Lego display. Then he put his camera down and went away, apparently not impressed with all my lights. (Sigh)

Can you tell the difference between these pumpkins?
The pumpkins on the left are as they came from the field. The pumpkins on the right have had their bottom and innards removed, so they are ready to carve.
The The 30th Annual Stoddard Avenue Pumpkin Glow begins Monday at 6pm, but there's lots of work to do to get ready!
As the day went on yesterday, my job was to help the pumpkins on the left to get outside and "ready for surgery" so there was more room for the "ready to carve" pumpkins. As we got more cutters and gutters in the afternoon, it was harder and harder to stay ahead of them. :) But, finally, they were all outside, so there was plenty of room for the gutted (ready-to-carve) pumpkins... waiting to be turned into works of art to be enjoyed by thousands over two nights.
Anyway, today the tracing and carving will commence.
Sign up for a shift, or just stop by to help. Currently, Saturday appears to have the fewest number signed up, but there are plenty of open spots today and Sunday, too.
It's going on next to the Greek Church (next to the The Dayton Art Institute) from 9am to 8pm

The pumpkins that you see on the left, are waiting to be cut, then gutted, so they can be carved tomorrow.
There's still plenty of time to come help with the gutting of the pumpkins today, and maybe tomorrow, or help carve Friday Saturday...

Hearing now that (so far) there have been more than 98 tornado warnings all over Florida, from Florida to Miami.
The hope is that the tornado threat is now lower as Milton gets closer.

Getting closer!
as of 8:08 am: 5,348 customers (1.1%) without power.
Hope yours comes on soon, if you're waiting.

Getting closer... as of 2:53 pm... 9,991
customers (1.9%) without power.
I heard from someone yesterday who said they saw a line crew in their area for more than 10 hours, so that's one reason it's taking a while to get to everybody.

Crackers and I went out for a quick walk this morning, so after she went back in the house, I took a walk around the block.
Fortunately I did not see any major issues, but lots of little issues to deal with, both for neighbors and for us.
At our house we got 2.75 inches of rain, but all of the trees that were blowing so violently in the wind managed to stay mostly where they were.
Which is good, since that means they did not fall onto the power lines to our house or the neighbor's houses.
While the utility people clear branches around their main lines, it's up to us to clear around the lot wires going to our houses. Although, I believe if a wire does fall onto a electric line and takes it down they will put it back up. They just don't do preventative work.
As I was returning to the house, there was a beautiful sunrise to behold.
I'd like to believe it will be a beautiful day for those attending the Oktoberfest and Germantown Pretzel Festival .

Goodbye to an old friend. That's how it feels to lose Phil Donahue. I was in the audience for the Erich von Däniken show here in Dayton, and my dad (Joe Wine) was a guest on the show in the 1960s.
So, it was a great assignment when I went to get pictures of Phil for the Dayton Daily News in 2008. After his interview at (I think) the Marriot, we headed down to WDTN-TV where Phil had a chance to talk with old friends, and signed the wall of his old office. I hope it's still there.
RIP, Phil. Broadcasting is better because of your journey.

Phil Donahue visits Dayton, including WDTN-TV, his last TV home in the Dayton area, May 30th and 31st, 2008.

"New Trump game plan against Kamala Harris: "All we have to do is define our opponent as a communist or a socialist - or somebody that's going to destroy our country." (He's said 'communist' a number of times today)"
