🚧 Not every excavation job is about putting something new in the ground. Sometimes, you’ve got to take something old out of service the right way.
This job was an old pipe that needed to be abandoned. Sounds simple enough… until you uncover it and find yourself standing in a hole full of muddy water! 😂
So what does pipe abandonment look like?
➡️ First, we carefully excavate down to the existing pipe and expose what we're working with.
➡️ Then we cut/open the pipe so it can no longer function as an active line.
➡️ Pump, pump, pump! 💦 Because apparently the ground decided we needed a swimming pool that day. 😂
➡️ We fill the pipe and surrounding voids and seal things up so water can't continue traveling through the abandoned line.
➡️ Once everything is secure, we backfill and get the area back where it belongs.
And yes… sometimes the job requires rubber boots, a pump, an excavator and a willingness to get REALLY muddy. 🤣
That's excavating — you never know exactly what you're going to find once you start digging!
