Gift cards are also greatly appreciated!

Walmart, Amazon, and Costco gift cards would be especially helpful so the family can purchase household necessities as they continue to figure out exactly what they need.

Every donation, gift card, share, and act of kindness helps make rebuilding a little easier. ❤️

To the other local businesses that donated their time, equipment, manpower, resources, and everything in between thank you!

Thank you for helping us show up, and for continuing to show up alongside us. This kind of work takes a community, and we truly could not do it without the businesses and individuals who step up without hesitation when their neighbors need them most.

There are still many months of cleanup, rebuilding, and recovery ahead for this community. It can feel overwhelming when you look at everything that still needs to be done, but every person, every hour, every piece of equipment, every donation, and every helping hand makes a difference.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped us keep showing up!

So many people have reached out asking, “What does this family need? How can we help?” First, thank you. The outpouring of love, generosity, and support has been incredible.

Right now, this family is homeless. Their home is uninhabitable, and they are moving from hotel to hotel with their family of six and the few essential belongings they were able to save. Insurance is covering one week at a time in a single hotel room with two queen beds not exactly designed for six people and everything they have left. But they are making the best of an unimaginable situation.

What they need most right now are the basics:
-Gas
-Groceries and restaurant gift cards
-Financial support to help cover everyday expenses
-Temporary housing that is free or truly affordable for a family of six

The hardest part is that life doesn’t stop after a disaster. They still have a mortgage on a home they can’t live in. Insurance premiums, car payments, phone bills, and all of the other monthly expenses continue, even though everything they knew changed in a matter of minutes.

If you’ve been wondering how to help, this is it. A gas card, a grocery gift card, a Venmo donation, or a lead on affordable temporary housing would make an immediate difference for this family.

Thank you for continuing to surround them with love and reminding them they aren’t facing this alone. ❤️

Last week, these rooms were full of life, warmth, and comfort.

A family gathered around the dinner table in this kitchen. Four children slept in their own bedrooms, surrounded by their beds, clothes, and favorite toys, and by the simple security of knowing they were home.

Today, like so many other families, these parents are sorting through debris, trying to box up whatever can be saved. They’re searching for the things not shattered by glass, soaked by water, or destroyed beyond repair.

How do you decide which memories to keep? How do you choose which pieces of your children’s childhood are saved and which are gone forever? How do you pack your entire life into a handful of totes and boxes, knowing that everything left behind will never be seen again?

This house… these walls… will never be home to this family again.

It’s something so many of us take for granted the place where our babies took their first steps, where the Tooth Fairy made their first visit, where birthdays were celebrated, where teenagers filled the house with laughter during game nights, where countless ordinary moments quietly became lifelong memories.

Moving into a new home is one thing. Having to sift through the shattered remains of the home you loved, preparing it for demolition, is something entirely different.

There is so much to be grateful for. Lives were spared. There is hope in rebuilding. There is beauty in neighbors, strangers, and communities coming together. There is strength in surviving the storm.

But there is also immense pain, grief, and sorrow. Those feelings deserve just as much space.

So keep reaching out. Keep showing up. Keep helping. Keep giving grace, compassion, and understanding. Please Venmo donations, totes, or boxes, or, if you're able to help move, ask us about where and when to show up.

Keep being Wisconsin Strong. ❤️

We made great progress on Green Bay Street today, but there is still so much work ahead.

At the Muckerheide family’s home, Derik Scott Muckerheide & Tara Muckerheide, we’ll have to wait until the official assessment is completed on Friday before we can begin salvaging any remaining belongings and start demolition. Right now, the preliminary assessment is that the home is a total loss. It will likely be demolished down to the foundation so they can begin rebuilding.

To everyone who has reached out asking how you can help, we’ll be there all day Friday, and J&S Yard Works will be there tomorrow. We would be incredibly grateful for any extra hands. If you’re able to come, please bring work gloves, rakes, shovels, brooms, and plenty of water. If you have storage totes, boxes, bins, packing supplies, or anything else that could help us save and organize the belongings that remain, those donations would mean so much.

Today we were also able to help several neighboring families, but there is still an overwhelming amount of debris to clear and people who need support.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared our posts, or shown up to help. The kindness and generosity we’ve seen from our community has been incredible. Let’s keep showing these families what Wisconsin Strong really means. ❤️

This video shows only a small glimpse of what our friends and so many others are facing after the tornado.

As of now, assessors believe their home is a total loss. What you can’t see is the extensive structural damage: broken roof trusses, water pouring through the entire upper level, the home shifting off its foundation, and thousands of pieces of glass and debris embedded in nearly every possession and cherished memory.

Again, we will be in the area starting today at 9am on Green Bay St., Menasha. If you are willing and able to help, please show up.

If you’re able to help, any donation, big or small, will go a long way toward helping them begin rebuilding.

The devastation from the tornado that tore through Wisconsin yesterday is truly beyond comprehension. Our hearts are with every family, business, and community affected.

If you’re a contractor, tree service, construction crew, equipment operator, volunteer, or simply someone willing to lend a hand, please consider helping. This may not be our neighborhood, our community, or our county, but these are our fellow Wisconsinites. Let’s show them what Wisconsin Strong really means.

Some of our close friends, Tara and Derik Muckerheide, lost their home on Green Bay Street in Menasha. Tara was home with their four children and all of their pets when the tornado struck while Derik was at work. She was able to get everyone to safety just in time. They then had to make their way through the devastation with their children and animals to reach safety and reunite with Derik.

Their home is still standing, but only barely, and it is no longer livable. They are currently staying in a hotel through the 30th, after which they will need temporary housing or housing assistance. We are currently fostering their animals and were with them last night helping recover essential belongings from what remains of their home.

Starting tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, our Household Handy Husbands crew will be on Green Bay Street in Menasha starting at their home helping with debris cleanup, tree removal, and anything else we can do. If you’re able to volunteer, bring equipment, or simply show up with a willingness to help, we’d love to have you join us. You can contact us for details or just come out and lend a hand.

This is where we’re starting, but it won’t be where we stop. If you’re in the area and have been affected by the storm, please comment or send us a message. We’ll do everything we can to help as we work our way from one family to the next.

If you aren’t able to volunteer but would like to help this family get back on their feet, you can donate directly through:

Whether you can donate, volunteer, share this post, or simply keep this family in your thoughts, every act of kindness makes a difference.

One family at a time. One neighborhood at a time.

Let’s show everyone what it truly means to be Wisconsin Strong. ❤️💪
