We teach fashion and jewelry designers how to get more sales online. She's an operator, not just an educator.

"I wanted to launch a clothing line with the least amount of risk possible. I chose the Fashion Brain startup course because Jane has experience in every aspect of the industry. A lot of other courses are taught by people with only one area of expertise or maybe they worked for a big brand. I wanted the Fashion Brain course because Jane has actually personally accomplished everything I want to do.

I couldn't be happier with my decision. The startup course really is a step-by-step blueprint to launch. Thanks, Fashion Brain!"

Heads up! Did you know Amazon is scraping products from independent shops’ websites using AI — WITHOUT CONSENT?

Amazon is currently testing a beta program that pulls products from small business websites, without permission, and shows their products available to buy via Amazon.

Bezos & team are rapidly scaling their agentic AI “Buy for Me” and “Shop Direct” beta programs, allowing AI to purchase products from third-party websites (like many of my clients’ Shopify stores) on behalf of users directly within the Amazon app.

Sometimes the customer gets directed to the indie shop’s site to buy, and sometimes not. This is causing confusion for the customer and the shops — and the products Amazon are scraping are often not even accurate or available.

And get this, there’s no easy way to just opt out. Shopify is allowing it and the only way to get your products off Amazon is to send them an email. 👀

Check out and ‘s posts for deep dives on what’s happening and updates. 💚

The email address and “script” to send Amazon to opt out is in the slides.

What do you think of this situation? 👍 or 👎? Have you been affected?

How to sell a product that doesn’t solve a problem. Most people don’t actually “need” what my clients sell — apparel, accessories, small-batch specialty foods…

Crafting a compelling marketing message to get people interested in buying is the whole point. It’s hard for designers to explain why the customer might care about your product.

And the truth is — they don’t generally care about your product. Don’t shoot the messenger.. What they do care about? Themselves! So we want to make the messaging about THEM. What’s in it for them?

After you watch the video on slide two, LMK what you think! Comment with your own “3-step framework”, and I’ll be happy to give you some honest & gentle feedback on it!

Shout out to for this little framework. It’s brilliant!

If you want to know how to implement strategies like these in your business to get consistent sales online, hit me up! We have courses and coaching programs to help you.

Want to see how apparel manufacturing in NYC actually works? 🍎🗽We’ll take you by the hand and show you at the NYC Manufacturing Tour on January 12!

This is a guided, in-person tour for fashion designers who want to understand how production really happens, not just what you see online.

On this tour, you’ll get:
🪡 Insider access to vetted, working factories in the Garment District in Manhattan
🪡 Real resources for grading, pattern making, pleating, embroidery, cut & sew, and sourcing
🪡 Context on what to look for, what questions to ask, and how the production process actually flows
🪡 No gatekeeping, just real-world connections

I’m hosting this tour with Anna from and these are places we’ve built relationships with over the years and many of them aren’t publicly listed or easy to access without introductions. And the last stop on the tour is for fabric & trim sourcing. 🧵

If you’ve ever felt stuck trying to find reliable manufacturers, unsure who to trust, or overwhelmed by the production side of your brand, this tour gives you clarity, context, and real-world connections.

This tour sold out last time, and we’re so excited to bring it back in the new year! I’ve been co-hosting tours with Anna since 2012 (even back when she lived in Chicago) and I’m so excited to do this again.

Tickets are on sale now.

Apparel manufacturing bloopers — reverse cut ticket. 👗😣

This one’s a doozy. It was a gorgeous dress style but I stapled the fabric swatches in the wrong spots. The bodice fabric was cut as the skirt. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Cotton velveteen bodice — mistakenly cut in chiffon. Completely unusable - every single piece was wasted.

And here’s the thing! The cut ticket itself was correct. It was just the fabric swatches stapled in the wrong spot. So whose fault is that? I really wanted to blame it on my cutter, but I couldn’t. Visually, the swatches were there and that’s what she looked at and that’s what she did. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I can’t even tell ya how much money I’ve lost doing things wrong with production, but it’s a lot.

If you wanna learn from my mistakes, join me on the NYC manufacturing tour.

Small-group walking tour of proven, vetted factories and resources for fashion designers in the Garment District.

On this tour, we’ll visit
- cut and sew factory with low minimums + capacity for thousands (and they also make samples, natch)
- embroidery house that blew my mind!
- pleat house that will get your creative juices flowing with what’s possible for you
- Pattern making, grading, and markers — a real pro in the industry
- sourcing fabrics and trims (they can source ANYTHING! A lot of places say that, but in this case is actually true. It’s the holy Grail).
- a visit to the New York Fabric Show— great fabric and trim sourcing and the vendors all have with low minimums.

You coming?

I’m hosting this tour together with Anna from V. MORA. Anna and I have seen it all and made all the mistakes and we’ll answer all your questions honestly and with love. 💚🧵💚

If your pricing strategy is based on “vibes” and fear that “no one will pay that”, this post is for you.

Many designers are out there:
💡 Barely paying themselves
💡 Basing your prices on other random brands on IG
💡 Pretending overhead is a cute little surprise
and then wondering why there’s never any money left.

Swipe through and find your “oh crap, that’s me” moment. I promise you’re not the only one. 🩵

👉 Save this for the next time you price your products
👉 Comment with which mistake you are most guilty of so far. Be brave.
👉 Send this to a designer friend who keeps saying “I’ll figure out pricing later.”

If you want to stop guessing and start pricing like a real business, get ready for a new program to help you be profitable — launching soon! 💡✨

My client asked my how I make it to my 6 am Friday workouts. Look, I have very little motivation these days and almost no discipline for things. But I do have a secret weapon. 👀

Her name is Sue. My trainer at the Y.

Sue is the reason I show up. Looking back, there’ been a version of Sue for everything I ever do in my life. In high school sports, it was a coach. It was my teammates, it was the people that surrounded me that made me want to show up and do things.

When I opened up my first business and was designing my line and running a retail store, it was the accountability to my employees. I’m paying them, and if I’m not organized and giving them the right things to work on, nothing got done properly.

Later, when I was selling to Bloomingdale’s and Saks, it was my responsibility to stay on schedule. Ship the product on time or lose the order.

With kids, they have school schedules that can’t be ignored.

I’ve almost always had a business coach or some type of coaching program, and these days I’m in a mastermind.

It’s just too hard for me to run the business completely on my own.

These things add structure and accountability for me - and most entrepreneurs.

I heard a story once about Andy Warhol once. He was asked, “if you could wish for anything in the world, what would it be?”

His answer?

A boss. A boss on retainer who could tell him what to do sometimes.

I get it. And that’s just the truth, we need other people in our lives. We need each other. We need community, and accountability, and a reason to get things done other than self motivation.

It’s not easy being entrepreneur, especially lately, and what we need more than ever right now is other people.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! What do you do to get things done and stay sane? Do you have a coach, join a mastermind? LMK in the comments.
