Form to request tree branches and limbs to be hauled away:

Request must be made by next Monday 6/29 and pickups will begin then. Branches must be at the curb and be 6’ or less to be collected!

The City of Decatur will only collect tree limbs/debris that is placed at the curb. Large tree limbs must be cut so they are no longer than six feet in length. The City will not collect any other garbage or building debris, nor will we collect paper bags.

If you live in green then you’re likely clear from severe weather today. Flooding is a concern for you still.

Those in red have a severe risk present as storms will race in this afternoon from Missouri. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible, especially south of Springfield.

This first cluster will move through 11A-4P, with additional storms in the red region after 6P with all hazards possible.

The City of Decatur will assist Decatur residents with tree debris cleanup after the recent storms. Tree limbs/debris must be placed at the curb, and a request for pickup must be made before Monday, June 29.

A reminder that right now Decatur garbage customers have unlimited weekly yard waste collection. If you have smaller debris that can fit in a yard waste container, please use that service. If you cannot dispose using the yard waste service:

◾️ Or call 217.875.4820 by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26
◾️ Trees and limbs must be brought to the curb before Monday, June 29
◾️ Trees and limbs must be cut so they are no longer than six feet in length
◾️ We will not collect any other garbage, fence posts, or building debris. If these are on the tree debris pile, it will not be collected
◾️ No paper bags on the debris pile. Landscape bags can be collected by your hauler

Public Works crews will begin pickup on Monday, June 29. Please avoid parking in front of debris piles once pickup begins as this will prevent crews from reaching them with equipment. Due to liability issues, City crews cannot come onto private property. Tree debris must be at the curb for pickup.

Our crews will pick up all debris piles that are reported. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work together to clean up from the storm.

What a nice gesture!!

The Y currently has power, and our internet is working. We know many in our community are without electricity or Wi-Fi this morning, so our lobby is open to anyone who needs a place to sit, charge devices, use the internet, or get some work done. The coffee is brewed, and you’re welcome here.
