💙💙 Decatur, YOU are so special!
Back in July, the Decatur Fire Department opened applications for a firefighter position, and we received just over 70 applications.
Throughout the process—from physical agility testing to interviews and casual conversations with applicants—we made a point to ask one question: “What drew you to Decatur?”
Some applicants traveled two to three hours, some from the Metroplex, and we wanted to know what made Decatur stand out to them.
Time and time again, we heard the same answer: the community. Applicants shared how impressed they were by the support our community shows its fire department and the way our department interacts with the people we are honored to serve.
That is something we are incredibly proud of, but even more than that, it is something we are incredibly grateful for.
You show up for us time and time again, without fail. Whether it’s supporting our events, encouraging our firefighters, or simply showing appreciation for what we do, you remind us why serving this community is so special.
Decatur, thank you for being the kind of community that people notice, the kind of community that makes a difference, and the kind of community we are proud to serve.
From all of us at the Decatur Fire Department, thank you for your continued support. We see it, we appreciate it, and we are so thankful for each and every one of you!
It’s a privilege to serve Decatur!
