Strong morning of networking, referrals, and relationship building at BNI Decatur on Thursday, May 21st!

We welcomed 7 visitors to the meeting today, including:
• 4 substitutes
• 1 visiting member
• 2 guests

Our featured speaker this week was Stewart Jones with J3 Concrete Coatings, who gave an outstanding presentation on transforming garages, patios, pool decks, and commercial concrete surfaces through professional coating systems. Stewart did a great job educating the room on the difference between standard epoxy products and the industrial-grade polyurea/polyaspartic systems his company installs, along with the importance of proper concrete preparation and long-term durability.

Congratulations as well to Shani Anderson with Not Just CPAs for winning this week’s Ivan Award for Best 45-Second Presentation! As always, Shani brought creativity and energy to the room — this week using an empty box as a prop to reinforce the importance of “thinking outside the box” when helping business owners solve problems.

We also had another excellent education moment from Stephen Bentley focused on becoming a better listener in networking conversations by paying attention to what people are planning, bragging about, or complaining about — all opportunities to identify quality referrals and meaningful connections.

If you’re looking to grow your business through intentional networking and trusted referrals, come visit us on a Thursday morning and experience the difference for yourself.

Another strong morning at BNI Decatur, where relationships continue to drive real business results.

This week, we heard an outstanding featured presentation from **Justin Reames with My Exterior Cleaners**, who broke down the science behind exterior cleaning—from roof soft washing to proper chemical application—and showed exactly how expertise and process separate professionals from the rest. His focus on education, transparency, and results made for a highly impactful presentation.

• **Ivan Award Winner:** Alex Merritt with Merritt Law for best 45-second presentation
• Weekly reminder from our education moment: consistency builds visibility, credibility, and ultimately referrals
• Strong engagement across the room with members and visitors sharing clear, specific asks and opportunities

We also continued to see the power of the room in action, with referrals, testimonials, and closed business reinforcing what happens when you surround yourself with the right network.

Over the past 12 months, our chapter has generated over **$750,000 in closed business**, and we’re just getting started.

If you’re looking to grow your business through intentional relationships and a proven referral system, come visit us and experience it firsthand.

Another strong morning of relationship-building and real business happening at BNI Decatur.

We kicked off the meeting by officially inducting our newest member, Stacey Lusk with Puddle Pools (Pools, Spas, Saunas). Welcome to the chapter, Stacey — we’re excited to have you as part of the referral network.

We also celebrated our February Networking Notables and recognized members who went above and beyond in generating business activity for the chapter.

• Art Wood – The Art Wood Mortgage Team (Residential Mortgage) led the month with a hat trick: highest Thank You for Closed Business, most Referrals Given, and tied for Visitors Brought
• JD Kellum – Kellum Group / Keller Williams Realty (Residential Real Estate) tied for Visitors Brought
• Stewart Jones – J3 Coatings (Decorative Concrete) tied for Visitors Brought
• Aryeh Bondy – A.S. Bondy, PC (Business Law) tied for Visitors Brought
• Jordan Lari – Northwestern Mutual (Life & Disability Insurance) recorded the highest CEUs for the month
• Justin Reames – My Exterior Cleaner (Power Washing) completed the most one-to-ones in February

Great work to everyone pushing the activity that drives referrals and real business results.

Aryeh Bondy with A.S. Bondy, PC – Business Law was our featured speaker and delivered an insightful presentation on asset protection and why the simplest strategies are often the most effective. His key takeaway: for most business owners, the smartest approach is structuring assets properly with entities and protecting them with the right insurance rather than overly complex legal structures.

Stewart Jones with J3 Coatings (Decorative Concrete) took home the Ivan Award this week for the best 45-second presentation, reminding everyone that clients buy the person first — not the price.

We also had a fantastic turnout of visitors this morning.

• 3 first-time visitors
• 1 guest
• 3 substitutes

Seven visitors in total brought fresh energy and new connections into the room.

Our chapter continues to grow and generate results, with more than $300,000 in Thank You for Closed Business already this fiscal year.

BNI Decatur showed up strong this morning with growth, energy, and serious business momentum.

We were excited to officially induct two new members into the chapter:
• Sebrecia Colquitt with Reach Technologies – Promotional Products
• Wanda Gilchrist with A Lady’s Touch – Home Staging

Welcome to the team. We’re looking forward to building with you.

Our featured speaker was Chunja Sinclair with Peak Interiors by Chunja, and she delivered a powerful behind-the-scenes look at what true interior design really involves. From space planning and construction coordination to managing vendors and reducing decision fatigue for homeowners, she walked us through the difference between staging, decorating, and full-service interior design. Her message was clear: great design isn’t just about making a space beautiful — it’s about creating function, flow, and long-term value.

Melissa Curl with Outrun Physical Therapy took home the Ivan Award (Ivan Swan) this week for her memorable education moment on proper shoe selection. She broke down how lightweight design, low heel drop, firmer midsoles, and a wider toe box can improve stability and reduce injury risk. Practical, clear, and actionable — and it earned her the win.

Stephen Bentley’s education moment challenged us to ask deeper questions in our one-to-ones. Surface-level conversations don’t drive referrals. Better questions create clarity, self-realization, and stronger referral triggers. The best networkers don’t just exchange information — they expand perspective.

Visitor recap:
• 2 BNI members from other chapters
• 4 first-time visitors
• 1 repeat visitor/sub

We also celebrated strong chapter performance with over $287,000 in closed business so far this fiscal year and attendance holding above 90 percent. Consistency matters, and it shows.

If you’re a business professional in Decatur or the surrounding area looking for structured, intentional growth through relationships — come see what we’re building.

Go make some deals.
