Complete Printing Service at 210 S. 2nd Street in downtown Decatur received a Century Award from the State of Indiana on August 15, 2024. 15 businesses were honored this year for 100 years or more of continually having a business in the State of Indiana. Complete Printing Service is 110 years old.
The business started out in 1914 in downtown Decatur as Commercial Print Shop, and moved to its current location around 1917. It was purchased by Allen Brune in 1969, who was a typesetter in Fort Wayne, IN. His son, Charlie Brune became a partner in 1989 and they renamed it Complete Printing Service and Charlie purchased the entire business in 1992. In 110 years, he has been there in one way or another for half of that time - 55 years.
Charlie and his wife, Jean Porter Brune, and their 3 sons, Jason, Ryan, and Nathan, along with office manager Linda Smitley, were able to attend the ceremony at the Indiana Statehouse. Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb handed out Century Award certificates along with Indiana Commerce Secretary David Rosenberg.
