Thanks for the memories! God Speed, Chuck.

It is with heavy hearts that our family shares the sudden passing of our beloved Chuck Norris yesterday morning. While we would like to keep the circumstances private, please know that he was surrounded by his family and was at peace.

To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family.

He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Through his work, discipline, and kindness, he inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact on so many lives.

While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him. The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends.

We know many of you had heard about his recent hospitalization, and we are truly grateful for the prayers and support you sent his way.

As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time.

Thank you for loving him with us.

With love,
The Norris Family

Top 10 Non-Negotiables in Commercial Espresso Service

Most equipment failures aren’t caused by age. They’re caused by poor documentation, poor maintenance, and poor accountability.

If you’re trusting someone with one of the most important assets in your café, these are non-negotiable.

1. They clearly document services completed, parts replaced, and components rebuilt. Service is not guesswork. Component life is determined by time and use. Without detailed records, your technician is working blind — and you pay for that in repeat failures.

2. They record equipment model and serial numbers on every work order.
Professional service is machine-specific. If a work order isn’t tied to an exact unit, the history is compromised. Documentation that can’t be traced to a specific machine is useless.

3. They test and document water hardness and filtration.
Water quality determines machine life. If hardness isn’t tested and recorded, your technician is ignoring the single biggest factor in equipment longevity. That’s not thorough — it’s negligent.

4. They follow up after service.
Accountability doesn’t end when the invoice is sent. A follow-up confirms resolution and demonstrates accountability.

5. They provide warranty terms in writing.
If it’s not in writing, it doesn’t exist. Professional companies define warranty coverage clearly and stand behind it.

6. They can provide a certificate of liability insurance.
If they’re inside your business and working on your equipment, proper insurance isn’t optional — it’s basic professionalism.

7. They operate with a structured maintenance program.
Maintenance is not the customer’s responsibility to remember. Professional service companies monitor service intervals, reach out when maintenance is due, and keep your equipment on schedule to prevent avoidable breakdowns.
8. They offer annual programs or retainers.
Strong service companies build long-term partnerships. They prioritize customers who commit to maintenance — and they structure their business to support them.

9. They protect their response times by managing capacity.
If a company is constantly overbooked, you will eventually feel it. Professionals understand their limits and staff accordingly.

10. Their technicians are trained in communication, not just mechanics.
Technical skill keeps your machine running. Professional communication protects your operation. A great technician can explain issues clearly, set expectations, and represent your business with confidence.

There are two fundamentally different types of commercial espresso service providers: repair-based and maintenance-based.

🚑 Repair-based providers respond when something breaks. Their business is built around emergency calls, part replacement, and downtime. Maintenance-based providers focus on preventing failures through scheduled service, education, and long-term planning.

🛫 If you’re new to commercial espresso equipment, your first decision shouldn’t be the brand or model—it should be which of these service models you’re buying into. A machine is only as reliable as the maintenance program and technician supporting it.

❌ Be cautious of retailers who compete primarily on price. Aggressive discounting often signals a repair-only approach, where support ends once the warranty expires. Instead, look for retailers who include complimentary services such as maintenance orientation, operational training, and an initial annual maintenance visit.

🔎 These services aren’t sales gimmicks. They exist to show new equipment owners how machines wear over time, what normal deterioration looks like, and how preventative care reduces downtime, service interruptions, and long-term costs.

🤐 After-Hours Automatic Espresso Machine Power Cycling: It is true that cycling your machine from hot to cold may have a negative effect on certain seals -especially if you own an older espresso machine.

However, many newer models use Teflon gaskets and seals that are more resistant to temperature changes. For other components such as electro-valves, safety valves and even group gaskets, power cycling can extend their lifespan before replacement is needed.

🕰️ In general, quality manufacturers using high-grade materials will not experience any issues from daily power cycling.
