We're so grateful to see that Burgess wines are featured in establishments across the country that have earned Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence (and Grand Award) accolades.

Between the Michelin-starred Press in St. Helena and 2-star Enclos in Sonoma, Spago in Kihei, and the 3-star Le Bernardin in New York, our wines are in some superb company among American fine dining wine lists.

As we close in on an early (and ideal) for harvest for 2026, our Winemaker Reid Griggs shares his thoughts about how growing seasons might change over the next 20 years in Napa Valley and why it is important to stay resilient and prepared according to what Mother Nature provides.

Harvest time is such an invigorating season to visit Burgess and see our minimalist farming practices and cellar work up close.

Recently we sat down with our Winemaker, Reid Griggs, to chat about his inspiration for our 2023 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon.

It's a barrel selection from Quartz Creek Vineyard, just south of Sleeping Lady, and contains 25% Syrah, an homage to Provençal reds like Domaine de Trévallon. The label bears an image of a vase crafted for us by respected local ceramicist Nikki Ballere.

Like many of our small-lot wines, it's only available direct from the winery.

We are proud to announce our collaboration with renowned Napa Valley ceramicist Nikki Ballere for our 2023 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nikki’s works have long been a fixture of the tables of the Napa Valley’s greatest restaurants and wineries. In 2025, we commissioned her to create a one-of-a-kind vase incorporating clay from our Sorenson estate vineyard. Diagonal lines, etched with a saw blade, recall the vineyard rows.

Recently we sat down with her to chat about this beautiful work. To make sure you receive an allocation of 2023 Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon in July, head to the link in our bio.

Each summer we introduce a new edition of our Artist Series Cabernet Sauvignon to our members. It's a barrel selection from some of the finest blocks in our Quartz Creek Vineyard, hand-chosen by our gifted winemaker, Reid Griggs.

The next iteration, from the grand 2023 vintage, is coming this July. Any guesses as to the artist this year?

2023 Promiscua Cabernet Sauvignon — 97 points
2023 Quartz Creek Cabernet Sauvignon — 98 points
2023 Sorenson Monopole Cabernet Sauvignon — 98 points

Recently we sat down with Winemaker Reid Griggs to talk about how important grape vine clones are to him.

“Site always trumps clones,” he told us, pointing out that even the sites a clone has lived in have changed that clone genetically, reflecting “The collective history of what that material has been through,” he said.

Our Winemaker Reid Griggs explains why it's so important for him, as a winemaker, to make the call on a final pick date for each block in a vineyard. A wine is a sum of a long chain of decisions, and it's critical that he be involved in the most important one.
