Day 3 of teaching the AMPLIFIED! methodology to students from Kobe Ryukoku High School in Japan at UC San Diego — and they’re doing a great job applying HI × AI to their work.

Yesterday, I worked with senior researchers and faculty from BML Munjal University to explore how HI × AI can strengthen problem identification and framing. Using HI × AI Loops, they experienced how human judgment and AI can work together to expand inquiry, challenge assumptions, and improve decisions. What was especially encouraging: they immediately began asking how they could apply the method to their own work—and teach it to their students. That is where AMPLIFIED! gets exciting: not just using AI differently, but thinking and teaching differently with it.

Fun fact: AI has been 70 years in the making. 🤓

Seventy years ago this week, Herbert Simon and Allen Newell, of the then-Carnegie Institute of Technology, and their RAND colleague Cliff Shaw, published Logic Theorist. Designed to perform automated reasoning, Logic Theorist solved 38 of the 52 theorems in the Principia Mathematica, and became acknowledged as the first-ever artificial intelligence program.
