The warns of an evolving digital assets scam where fraudsters are sending fake IRS letters that direct you to enroll your cryptocurrency in a “Digital Asset Compliance Portal” by a certain deadline. No such portal exists.

If you receive this notice, do not scan the QR code or provide any personal or financial information. Scammers are trying to steal your information and digital assets.

Rules on Car Interest Loan Deduction Nearly Final

The Trump administration is close to finalizing rules on the car loan interest tax deduction, which was part of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). The White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) has completed its review of final rules on the car loan interest tax break. The IRS proposed rules in December 2025. Under the law, certain taxpayers can deduct up to $10,000 in car loan interest on their tax return for vehicles purchased between 2025 and 2028. The law also established reporting requirements for businesses that receive individual interest of $600 or more on certain loans.

FinCEN Permanently Ends Beneficial Ownership Reporting Requirements for Millions of Small Business Owners; Will Delete Information Previously Reported by U.S. Persons

Tuesday, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is issuing a final rule that permanently removes the requirement for U.S. companies and U.S. persons to report beneficial ownership information to FinCEN under the Corporate Transparency Act. The final rule is effective on its publication in the Federal Register. FinCEN today also announced that it will delete previously reported information by U.S. persons—now exempt from the reporting requirements—from the beneficial ownership information database. Under the final rule, foreign entities that are reporting companies will still be required to report beneficial ownership information for foreign individuals.
