Your aim is to trade and make money. The smart way starts with a cleaner chart.

If your chart looks like a barcode, you have drawn far too many lines.

Support is an area where buyers have been before. Resistance is an area where sellers have been before. An area, not a perfect line.

Mark the zones where price has reacted more than once. Wait for price to return and show confirmation.

A level is not an automatic trade. It simply says: pay attention.

That is how we teach it at Stock Market College: structure first, decisions second.

US CPI is released today. Before the number lands, here is what it actually is.

CPI, the Consumer Price Index, tracks how prices change across a basket of everyday goods and services. It is one report and one snapshot of inflation.

Traders watch it because markets compare the reading with expectations. A surprise can shift interest-rate expectations, and that can move markets.

But the reading is not the whole story. Watch the data. Watch the price reaction. Keep risk in view.

A hammer candle does not automatically mean buy.

A candlestick shows four things: the open, high, low and close. Its real value comes from the context around it.

Before you act, ask:
Where did it form?
Is price at support or resistance?
What is the trend?
Was there strong rejection?

Don't memorise shapes and call it a strategy. Read the story around the candle.

Before you ask which trade to take, ask how much you can afford to lose on it.

Tonight's TradingView Tuesday walks through capital, risk per trade and position size, so the size of your trade fits your account instead of your mood.

Before you ask “What trade should I place?”, try a different question first: “Do I understand what I’m seeing?”

Trading starts with a process, not a deposit. These six slides walk through what is worth answering before a live account is funded:

• Can I explain what price actually did?
• Do I know how to read the chart?
• What context am I missing?
• Can I calculate my risk?

If any of those make you pause, that is not a setback. It is simply your next learning step.

Trading involves risk; education does not guarantee results.

Thinking about starting to trade? Please don't begin by asking which trade to place.

Begin here:
1. Learn how the market moves.
2. Learn how to read a chart.
3. Decide how much you can afford to risk before you enter.

Then practise on a demo account and record every decision. That record becomes your best teacher.

Trading should begin with a process, not a deposit.

Your position size should come from a formula, not a feeling.

Three numbers decide whether a losing streak is a setback or the end of an account: risk per trade, position size and reward ratio. We walk through all three live tonight, free, at 18:30 SAST.

NFP lands tomorrow at 14:30 SAST. Don't go in blind.

A spike is a move. It is not proof of a trend.

Before the release:
1. Mark the recent swing highs and lows.
2. Note what price was doing before the release.

After it:
3. Did price break a level you marked?
4. Did it hold beyond that level, or move back?

Trends are easier to recognise after the fact, so confirm, don't assume.

Not sure what you're looking at? Join our free live session tomorrow at 14:15 SAST and we'll talk you through it as it happens. Register in the first comment.

Feeling stuck when you trade on your own?

It is rarely about talent. More often, structure is what goes missing.

Three steps to get moving:

1. Start with the foundations. Give yourself time to understand key market ideas before you make a trading decision.
2. Choose one learning goal. One question, one concept at a time.
3. Ask before you act: What is my idea? What would change my mind? What risk am I taking?

Not sure where to start? Find the level that fits you.
