If you see a bunch of tiny red and black bugs having what looks like a backyard meeting… you’re not crazy 😅
These are baby boxelder bugs, and fun fact — they hatch in big groups and hang out together like this for safety. Basically the bug version of “don’t go anywhere alone.”
Right now they’re just minding their business, feeding on seeds and plants… BUT give it a few months and they’ll all decide your house looks like a nice place to spend the winter.
They won’t tear anything up, but they WILL invite about 500 of their closest friends inside, and they leave stains if you squish them (ask me how I know).
Moral of the story: it’s a lot easier to deal with them now than when they’re trying to move in rent-free this fall.
