I have been working with the Temple Mount Sifting Project in Jerusalem to identify the locks and keys they have been finding. Check out this volunteers most recent find, a latch-lifter key. Though commonly used across a large span of time, the shape and style of this particular latch-lifter could have been used between the 1st - 6th centuries CE.

I will be giving a lecture at the University of North Texas on Monday, April 22, on behalf of the Archaeological Institute of America. The lecture is titled: "From Ancient Rome to the American Frontier: Archaeology in Academia and the Private Sector"
