I have been working with the Temple Mount Sifting Project in Jerusalem to identify the locks and keys they have been finding. Check out this volunteers most recent find, a latch-lifter key. Though commonly used across a large span of time, the shape and style of this particular latch-lifter could have been used between the 1st - 6th centuries CE.

The Temple Mount Sifting Project is an archaeological endeavour which sifts earth destructively and illegally bulldozed from the Temple Mount in 1999 by Muslim authorities. I will be giving a lecture at the University of North Texas on Monday, April 22, on behalf of the Archaeological Institute of America. The lecture is titled: "From Ancient Rome to the American Frontier: Archaeology in Academia and the Private Sector"

I will be discussing work as an archaeologist regarding my research in Roman Locks and Keys as well as working in the private sector for Cultural Resource Management. The lecture is free and open to the public. The informational flier is attached below.
