Do you need a front license plate in Colorado?

Yes. On the dash doesn't count either.

Colorado law (C.R.S. 42-3-202):
• Most vehicles need a plate on the front AND the rear
• The front plate goes horizontally where the manufacturer designed it to go
• Rear-only exceptions: motorcycles, autocycles, street rods, trailers and special mobile machinery
• Plates have to be clean and legible

The ticket:
• No front plate, or not mounted right: Class B traffic infraction
• A tinted, smoked or distorting cover that makes the plate unreadable to plate-reading cameras: Class A traffic infraction, $100 fine

New car and no front bracket? Ask the dealer to install it before you drive off.

Are there still cars on the road with Takata airbags?

Yes. A lot of them.

• About 4.7 million U.S. vehicles still have an unrepaired Takata airbag inflator, per Carfax's September 2026 recall tracker (reported by Autobody News 9/28)
• Carfax estimates about 1.3 million vehicles have an open "do not drive" recall, Takata or otherwise
• NHTSA has confirmed 28 U.S. deaths from ruptured Takata inflators, and says the risk grows as the airbag ages

Most of these cars are older and have changed hands, so the recall letters go to the wrong person.

What to do (takes 30 seconds):
1. Go to NHTSA.gov/recalls
2. Type in your VIN or plate
3. Open recall? Call a dealer for that brand. Safety recall repairs are free.

Buying used? Run it before you sign. Selling to family? Run it before you hand over the keys.

Is Volkswagen green or greenwashing?

Both, like every big automaker.

They went all-in on EVs after Dieselgate because they had to rebuild the story and meet rules. ID.4 is a real Colorado commuter for a lot of people. ID. Buzz is a conversation piece that still needs a home charger plan.

Greenwashing is promising I-70 ski days on a 20% battery. I’ll map charging before I let you fall in love.
