Today I sit down with Terry Terranova of CharTer Consulting to talk about what leadership looks like where it actually happens, in the field, with real crews, real pressure, and real consequences.

We talk about why curiosity matters when something goes wrong, how psychological safety and accountability can work together, and what experienced crew members can teach the next generation.

We also get into coaching, technology, AI, and something that can easily get lost in all of it, the experience people have at work every day.

Because how people are led at work doesn’t stay at work. It follows them home, into their families and communities.

Someone shared a prompt with Lindsey recently. It was instructions for an AI to write a rejection email. Warm, generic, no specific reasons, make the person feel considered.

It didn't sit right with her and she spoke up.

When someone applies for a role in earnest, they're doing more than submitting a resume. They're weighing a change that touches how they support themselves and their families. That deserves better than automated warmth.

To be clear, we use AI at MRC. It helps us move faster on research, writing, and the busywork between conversations. We're not purists about it. But it doesn't replace the human side of recruiting. And it doesn't get to handle the moments that matter most to a person on the other end.

If you're a candidate, that's what working with us feels like. A real person who knows your name, tells you the truth, and calls you back either way.

We're excited to welcome Sherri Powell to the MRC Recruiting team. 🎉

Sherri is an Arizona native based in Miami, AZ, and she's spent her whole career inside this industry. She earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Arizona, started in mine engineering (including contract work in Australia), supervised rotating shifts in mine operations, then moved through HR and business development.

Sherri has done the technical work and the people work. So when she connects companies with professionals, she knows what the job actually looks like on the ground.

Outside of work, she's a wife, a mom in a blended family with 5 kids, and an active community volunteer. Building relationships that last is just who she is.
