I often like to think about the space beyond reality, where the mind drifts and dreams wander. I imagine this realm is filled with painterly color, animal totems, and dancing botanicals.

Ursa Major, a batik silk painting, captures both the constellation and the mythical bear in vibrant dye on silk. The image is created by applying layers of melted wax between dye baths to build up color. In the end, the wax is removed and the silk is stretched over a 20 by 16 inch wood cradle. Cards and prints now available!!!

I'm excited to announce a new, exciting opportunity! For the next couple of months, Boulder's KGNU Radio station will be the home of 9 original oil and batik paintings from yours truly. This Friday, October 18th, KGNU will hold an Open House as a part of their weeklong fund drive. A big thanks to the NoBo Art District for setting up this collaboration through their Art & Place program. 😊

It's so funny how I can dislike a painting when I first finish it and then over time it becomes one of my absolute favorites! Sometimes my creativity flows ahead of me and I have to catch up.
