Hate Insurance Credentialing and Re-Credentialing?
This Might Help
Insurance Credentialing is becoming one of the biggest headaches that a practice has to deal with on a yearly basis. In Colorado we have always had to complete the Colorado Credentialing Application and in some cases we still do. However in more states and now finally in Colorado dentists can fill out a ProView CAQH form. The ADA is now endorsing ProView CAQH and you can complete the application on the ADA site (see below). The application looks like the Colorado credentialing applications, and pretty much asked the same questions, you then attach your license, DEA license, specialty certificates, malpractice insurance and anything you else most insurance company needs including a W9. When complete the insurance companies have access to the data.
Once this is completed you will be assigned a number just like your NPI and license number, this is the number you will use when re-credentialing or credentialing with a large number of the insurance companies. On the insurance applications we are now seeing a space for a CAQH number. If you put in the CAQH number than you can skip a large amount of the application. The one thing you do have to do is update your attestation questions on the CAQH website once every every 120 days. When one of your documents becomes out of date or expires you will receive an email letting you know and you can just upload the new version of your license or malpractice every year.
The great news is that it really cuts down on the amount of time we spend re-credentialing or even credentialing our practices and doctors. Hopefully this will go along way in bringing some consistency to the credentialing process. Now that most of the insurances want to have practitioners re-credentialing every two years this would be a huge help. Websites for completing the application are below. Make sure to keep track of your number and your password in order to re-enter.
