As I start a new position building, sharing and connecting communities in Colorado, I want to take up some space for myself to figure out what belonging means to me personally. I'm struggling and so I'm gonna write it out. I'm an essayist after all, so I'm going to take a risk and put it out on 's internet (worth a shot). Not only am I trying to find my roots, I'm trying to be grounded and water my own roots- two very different goals. Inspired by bell hooks and fueled by my incessant thoughts, these writings will be exploratory of what I need to feel as if I belong. Here, there and in the future. I am a Builder. I am a Weaver. I am a Black woman. I am a lover of food, travel, relational experiences and spaces of fun and learning.
As a Builder, I will assist your organization, business, or company in creating edutainment spaces which is structured with inclusive and equitable engagement practices.
As a Weaver, I will complete qualitative research, engage in academic scholarship around food, culture, and placemaking in order to bring this knowledge to the broader communities who deserve to have access to this knowledge.

It is important for Builder/Weaver, LLC to stand for something. Yes, I provide consultation on and spaces but what sets me apart are my values and the focus Builder/Weaver brings. As a , I still hold to my strengths-based, person centered values of engaging with communities. My services will assist your organization to build events, programs, and destinations that are thoughtful, engaging, and mindful of the people you rely on to provide the hospitality, food, memories, and history that makes your home unique.
Empowering Genuine Communities is my guiding light. When you create community-centered education, programs, and edutainment opportunities, you accept that you are responsible to the communities you depend on. The relationship is not one-up or onw-down, but equal.

Hey There,
This baby of mine has had a few name changes and focus shifts but we're learning! Please say hello to my little one, Builder/Weaver, LLC. Using my professional and educational experiences as a social worker, research, writer, and food scholar, B/W is here to re-center the narratives of BIPOC, and especially Black, communities in tourism, edutainment, and experiential spaces.

My services include program development, project management, research and writing, narrative development and community-based research.

And of course, food is the avenue in which I create communities and learn about cultures, so there will be plenty of that.
