Hey y'all! It's ! Here is my appliance repair tip of the week:

These are pictures of my client's dryer. They (unfortunately) illustrate what a dryer looks like after it catches on fire. It should serve as a good reminder that as a homeowner, you need to have your dryer serviced and cleaned once a year. Otherwise, you may be faced with a fire hazard. If your dryer's vent tube is made of aluminum or paper, it also needs to be changed once a year as well. If it is rigid-metal, change it every 5 years to prevent a fire hazard.

Lesson of the day: you can't believe everything you read on the internet. When it comes to appliance repair, every issue should be diagnosed on a case by case basis.

Today's case: I got a call from one of my clients because the bake and broil elements on her Maytag slide-in electric range were not working. Before calling me, she tried to search for a solution on Google and ultimately came to the conclusion that there was an issue with her control board. Per Google's (completely unnecessary) recommendation, she believed the control board needed to be replaced altogether. I told her that while that might be the case, there would be no way for me to tell for sure until I could get my hands on it so I rushed over. Turns out, Google's recommendation was wrong—and she certainly did not need to repair her entire range/oven/stove (RSO). I simply needed to replace both the bake and broil elements.

My advice: always, always, ALWAYS call an appliance repair specialist when you're in a bind and unsure of what to do. Their expertise will end up saving you a lot of money in the long run. At the end of the day, my client looked at me and said, "I'm so glad I called you, Ann!" It was the highlight of my day.

Ann's the Man is officially on Facebook—and it's about time!

For those of you who've never met me, my name is Ann and I'm the best appliance repair person you'll ever meet! I moved to Denver a couple of months ago and I still feel very new to the area. Eager to grow my network of people here in Colorado, I plan to use Facebook as a means to meet and engage with more people living in and around my community. While I spend the majority of my time in the Santa Fe Arts District, I'm willing to travel up to clients who live up to 15 miles outside of Denver.
