For a long time, I have placed my hope in science and humanity. Hope in science such that we live in a system where a solution exists somewhere out there in the unknown.

The hope in humanity being that we find them.

How do you frame a failure?

I always thought that billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban was always just really "lucky." I listened to his story almost 50 times by now. Every step of the way he progressed forward, it seemed like he never wasted time or had a setback.

Just recently though, it hit me. It's not that he was really lucky. It is how he tells his story, he frames every failure as a pivotal moment in his step to becoming a billionaire, and attributes every "failure" to his success today.

So I'll ask you again, how do you frame your failures? Are you a victim to them, or are you successful because of them?

Join us and share your story, we'll help you find some success among your failures. Link to the event is in the comments.

More talking than working today on a ground mount for a family friend of mine.

It will get built eventually. 😁

He’s a retired builder that’s been using a bit too much electricity. He bought directly from a distributor, I did all the paperwork, and now we’re building it.

Do you want to help your team be more productive? Do you want to help them achieve the ever elusive "flow state?" If you do, then watch out for these monsters:

1. Stress - the number one killer to any cohesive thought train. Now stress has good types, especially when the ride side of fight or flight kicks in. However, it can also be very distracting. Before you go to a block of time reserved for flow. Take a quick walk outside, take a few deep breaths, or drink a quick cup of coffee or tea.

2. Multitasking - mute everything, turn the phone upside down, put a note on your cubicle or door, mute notifications for slack, discord or hangouts. Notify your team / boss that you are working and you'd appreciate no disruptions.

3. This is in the sense of perfectionism and goes hand-in-hand with stress. Don't let the idea of failure get in the way of doing good work. Normally, flow is a great way to get task work, or grunt work done. You can't create a masterpiece until you have the words on a page, paint on a canvas, or pixels on a document. Perfection can come later with revisions and feedback from peers, for now, lets just get some work done.

4. Before going into the flow state, have some clear goals outlined. You dont want to spend your brain energy on planning when your brain is in a functioning role. Have a clear checklist you can plow through so you don't get distracted.

With those tips, you should be able to hold a flow state for 90-120 minutes.

How to W.I.N. Three steps to achieve a new habit (or stop doing a bad one).

Make sure your inner self is deeply aligned with what the habit will unlock for you.

If the habit is something you're already good at, it makes it a lot easier to implement and feel rewarded. However, this doesn't disqualify you from winning, if you're terrible at running, reading, or painting. It doesn't mean you won't be successful, it just might be a little harder to WANT it.

The last step is making a plan to do it right now. Put it in your schedule and really go through each step that takes you to the habit. Stack it onto something you already do. E.g. Making your bed, brushing your teeth, or eating lunch.

I'm getting through the book "Limitless" pretty quickly. It's advertised as a how-to manual for your brain. In my section on habits, there was a great acronym I wanted to design. If you've followed me for a while, you know I am basically in love with James Clear's methodology. However, this book takes that theory and expands on it.

Jim Kwik does an amazing job explaining in a step-by-step manner how to make yourself a superhero by using the most powerful part of your body, your brain.
