Welcome to our social media version of this podcast we discussed previously. Hear where this story came to light from a listener from Centennial Colorado: I am absolutely livid. I need to get this off my chest because people need to know that not all “professionals” are who they claim to be. My ex and I used our employee health benefits to get an in-house social worker to help us navigate our divorce. We wanted to do it right. We wanted to be civil for the sake of our two kids. This woman—let’s call her “The Expert”—sat us down in her office time and time again. She looked us in the eye and lectured us about the psychological trauma of divorce. She preached about how “cordial co-parenting” was the only way to save our kids’ mental health. She specifically hammered home, over and over, “Do NOT alienate the other parent. Do NOT speak negatively about them in front of the children.” We listened. We followed her advice. We thought we were doing the right thing. Fast forward to last week. I found out, completely by accident, that this “neutral” professional actually had a close personal relationship with my ex-wife behind my back. But it gets worse. Through the grapevine, I found out that this same social worker, who spent months telling *me* how to properly parent, is actively coaching my ex-wife on how to alienate those kids from me. She is using everything she learned about me—every insecurity, every vulnerability I shared in those “safe” mediation sessions—to help my ex poison my relationship with my own children. The hypocrisy is physically sickening.
