It was an incredible day celebrating the signing of HB26-1065, a transformational piece of legislation that has been years in the making and a top priority for the Town of Winter Park.

This bill creates new tools to support major transit investments, transit-oriented development, and affordable housing opportunities across Colorado. It represents a bold vision for how communities can partner with transit agencies and the state to invest in infrastructure that strengthens local economies and improves quality of life for residents and visitors alike.

Special thanks to Mayor Nick Kutrumbos, Councilmember Rebecca Kaufman, the bill sponsors, and the many partners who helped make the case for why this investment matters. It has been an honor to represent the Town of Winter Park and look forward to continuing this amazing relationship.

It has been a busy few weeks for our team down at the Colorado State Capitol!

From hosting multiple client days at the Capitol, to watching bills move through committee, the pace of the legislative session is definitely picking up. Our team has been spending long days under the dome working with legislators, stakeholders, and partners to move important work forward.

And while there has been plenty happening on the policy front, the biggest news from our office might just be a new addition to the team. Iris recently adopted a puppy named Oliver at Humane Colorado’s adoption event at the state capitol, and it is safe to say he has already stolen all of our hearts.

As we approach the halfway point of the legislative session, we are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside incredible clients, partners, and lawmakers who care deeply about the future of Colorado.

Senator Winter was a passionate public servant whose commitment to improving the lives of Coloradans. Through her work on transportation, energy, civil rights, and environmental policy, she made a real difference across our state. Her courage, compassion, and belief in community lifted up countless families and individuals.

On behalf of the entire team at Aponte & Busam Public Affairs, we extend our deepest condolences to her children, partner, family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege to know and work with her. In this moment of grief, our thoughts are with all whose lives she touched.
