When Afshin Safavi, Ph.D., and his family moved to Colorado in 2016, they were drawn by the mountains, quality of life, and a community that supports science. He quickly saw the state’s momentum as a hub for health innovation.

As Founder & CEO of Colorado Health & Tech Centers, Afshin is developing new biotech campuses across the Front Range. His leadership and vision were on display during the CBSA Drive to Five: Colorado Life Sciences Innovation Tour, where industry leaders visited CHTC’s Greenwood Village site.

This September also marks 40 years since Afshin immigrated to the U.S., a milestone that shapes his commitment to protecting America’s life sciences leadership and strengthening Colorado’s role on the global stage.

In Fort Collins. Innosphere Ventures helps early-stage life sciences companies scale with purpose. From lab and office space to capital and mentorship, they’re providing critical support for growth companies, including a state and federally funded life sciences incubation program that has expanded to six states.

At Colorado State University’s Translational Medicine Institute, top researchers are advancing “One Health in Action,” applying insights from both veterinary and human medicine to solve complex challenges and deliver real-world results.

Umoja Biopharma in Louisville is advancing in vivo CAR T therapies for cancer and autoimmune diseases. With $100 million in Series C financing and a presence in Colorado’s P-TECH education program, Umoja is building the future of science and supporting the next generation of talent.

Based in Boulder, Foresight Diagnostics moved to Colorado in 2020 and has grown rapidly, now employing nearly 100 people.
