Today, Governor Polis signed SB26-015: Commercial Sexual Activity with a Child Offenses into law, marking an important step forward for Colorado and the fight against human trafficking and the exploitation of children.

We were incredibly proud to have played a role in helping advance this legislation and to stand alongside so many dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly to make this day possible.

Thank you to our bill sponsors for their leadership and unwavering commitment State Representative Monica Duran Jarvis Caldwell for HD20 Dylan Roberts Senator Byron Pelton.

Thank you to the coalition partners and advocates who brought their expertise and passion to this effort, and most importantly, to the survivors who courageously shared their stories and experiences.

Last week marked a major milestone as HB26-1311 was officially signed into law by Governor Polis.

Not every bill receives a formal signing ceremony but this one did! That speaks volumes about the importance of this legislation and the impact it will have across Colorado.

We were proud to lead this effort on behalf of the NUCA: National Utility Contractors Association working alongside a coalition of stakeholders who helped shape and strengthen the bill every step of the way.

HB 1311 modernizes Colorado’s construction payment process by allowing contractors to use surety bonds in place of withheld retainage on qualifying projects. In practice, this helps improve cash flow for contractors and subcontractors, supports business growth, and keeps more capital moving through Colorado’s construction and infrastructure economy.

A special thank you to the bill sponsors — Majority Leader State Representative Monica Duran, Representative Michael Carter for Colorado and Senator Marc Snyder and Scott Bright for Senate — for their leadership, collaboration, and commitment to getting this across the finish line.

Last night, the Sewald Hanfling team had the privilege of attending Firefly Autism’s Luminescence Gala, an inspiring evening dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by autism.

We were especially honored to see each member of the Joint Budget Committee recognized with the Autism Advocacy Award for their commitment to protecting critical autism services and advocating for Colorado’s most vulnerable families all while navigating a $1.5 billion budget deficit.

Sewald Hanfling is proud to represent Firefly pro bono and grateful for the opportunity to support such an impactful organization. Thank you for a truly meaningful and memorable night.

Hundreds of community members from La Alma Lincoln Park, Baker, and surrounding neighborhoods shared their thoughts, ideas, and concerns about the potential redevelopment of Burnham Yard which includes the preferred site of the new Denver Broncos stadium during the second Small Area Plan community meeting. It was great to see Councilmembers Torres and Alvidrez, representatives from the Mayor’s Office, and so many valued community partners at the open house.

Colorado Tech Day at the Capitol was a huge success! It was great to see such strong engagement between industry leaders and policymakers, all coming together to highlight the vital role technology plays in Colorado’s economy and future.

A special thank you to the legislators who took the time to join, speak with members, and share their perspectives.

Colorado’s tech sector continues to drive growth, opportunity, and innovation across our state and partnerships like these are key to keeping that momentum going.

HB 26-1311 — Retainage Surety Bond Construction Contracts — passed out of the House Business & Labor Committee with overwhelming support. This important bill allows contractors to use a surety bond instead of having retainage withheld, helping improve cash flow and strengthen Colorado’s construction industry.

Grateful to bill sponsors Majority Leader Duran and Rep. Carter, along with the many industry partners and supporters who showed up and helped move this forward.

Amazing turn out for the 2026 Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce Day at the Capitol!

CWCC members and partners had the opportunity to engage with legislators advocating for women in business, observe House floor proceedings, and participate in an Advocacy 101 training.

Thank you to all our legislators who stopped by to grab a delicious breakfast and have great conversations!
