A friend sent me a stat this week from Funnel Science: Landing pages with video increase conversions by 800%.
By the way, that stat used to be 80%.
Sounds good for a gal in the video business?
Nope. 12 years in, I can tell you that kind of thing only creates more confusion.
Because video itself is not what creates the conversion.
Video is not one thing. It's not the camera. It's not the footage. It's not the editing.
And that's exactly where the confusion starts.
If I had a nickel for every time I heard "I'll just grab my phone" or "AI can probably handle this," I wouldn't need a video business.
But video is only one piece of a larger system.
What compels someone to convert is the offer on the page.
The messaging, the ad, or keyword; Whatever got them there in the first place.
Understanding your audience so deeply that when they click play, they think you've been reading their mind about the exact problem they're trying to solve.
Videos that actually convert are built around this:
Who they're talking to.
Where that person is in the buying journey.
What objections are standing in the way.
What trust still needs to be built.
What action the viewer should take next.
THEN when all those pieces are working together video can absolutely accelerate conversions. Significantly.
That's why a product demo shot on an iPhone can crush it for some businesses.
But for B2B services?
Trust-based businesses?
High-ticket offers?
That's a completely different game.
And that's why "just make videos" can become one more distraction from building the system that actually drives results and that's the last thing we want for our clients.
Whether you're just getting started with video or you've been at it a while and not seeing the results you expected, this is the work we do. Hit reply and let's talk about what a strategy actually built around conversion looks like for your business.
