Eric Ross, the owner and operator of Five Points Geoplanning LLC, has been a professional geospatial researcher for the past 6 years, a planner for the past 2 years, and is a certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP). Eric has worked on a variety of collaborative projects pertaining to urban morphology, access to opportunity; and regional, city, and neighborhood planning. Recent
work includes examining morphological change in the Auraria and Ballpark neighborhoods of Denver, investigating land use, policy, and environmental justice implications of medical ma*****na and the locations of dispensaries and grow operations in Denver; and food deserts in the Denver metro area. Past work includes contributions to the Metro Vision 2040 regional plan update and Sustainable Communities Initiative at the Denver Regional Council of Governments. Eric is a lecturer in the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences and Department of Planning and Design at the University of Colorado Denver, and teaches mapping and map analysis, cartography and computer mapping, geographic information systems (GIS), and urban studies to both undergraduate and graduate students. A native of Colorado, Eric’s previous careers include a decade in the restaurant industry in Boulder and decade as a peace officer in Aspen. Eric currently lives in the historic Curtis Park neighborhood of Denver in a historic home, is the Board President of the Master in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) Alumni Board at the University of Colorado Denver. He has also lived in Fort Collins, CO, Athens, GA, Coulee Dam, WA, Gresham, OR, Boulder, CO, Carbondale, CO, and Basalt, CO, and is active in Colorado’s back country, travels often, and has a strong appreciation for urban design and form.
