SPARKS OF INSPIRATION DURING OUR COURAGEOUS EVOLUTION:
This is actually fantastic advice. We give everything the meaning it has! That includes what we make other people's behavior mean about us.
We can feel hurt, abandoned, judged, unworthy based on messaging "we think we are getting". But what if that person feels some particular way and when they talk to you, the behavior is an opportunity to look at where you might be feeling that way too.
It's ok to set boundaries and not to continue to participate in situations where you feel mistreated. Or you could get curious and ask yourself, why is that triggering me to question my worth and seriously thank that individual for showing you where you would love to heal.
I started a little practice a while back of asking myself what each of my relationships were for? If the answer was to repeat a pattern, to enable, to see where I was still telling myself stories, or to feel unworthy of love...then it gave me the opportunity to be in more choice on how I engage with those individuals.
What you look at does give you the opportunity to choose and own your own experience, which feels amazing, eventually π

Taking full accountability for your experience, verses blaming someone else takes practice, patience with yourself and lots of self-love.
