It’s the first official day of national convention in Indianapolis, so we celebrated in style with our own chapter meeting and electing of this years chapter officer team! Team building included creating the “best” marshmallow tower and election by delegates of the three programs! Congratulations to our new officer team, which consists of members from all three programs!
And a good luck to our other Vermont representatives down in Indy competing and representing our state!

Students are making maps to work with on Avenza and collecting tree data for their management plan. They learned about which soil types are at the land lab (Cabot, buckland, vershire/lombard) and began looking for soil indicator plants.
Knowing the soil type will direct how we manage for certain tree species on this piece of land lab property.

The final day! We hung up some trees, used some ropes for mechanical advantage and used different cutting techniques to get them down, like directional bucking, scissor cut and “pole in the hole”.

Students points over the past five days were tallied and our top three were 3rd-Braydon, 2nd- Tyler and the overall t-shirt winner was Nell!

We ended the year with Falcon Finale! Our program students were back at their sending schools or other finale events. New students who signed up from the high school spent time in four VT fish and wildlife- Wildlife Management Areas learning about the WMA and doing various stewardship projects like tree planting, nest box checks, trail building and installing new kestrel and duck boxes. We visited Eagle point, Wenlock, Willoughby falls and South Bay WMAs.
