Retired Wichita, KS Police Detective Richard Mellard opened his bar/restaurant Mellard's Mug Shots about 7 months ago. It is located in Wichita. He invested a lot of time and money into creating an atmosphere that caters to law enforcement and their families. Unfortunately, he is not getting the turn-out that he had hoped for.
One of the things I love the most about being a LEOW is the fact that we all support each other when we need it. Well, how about doing the same for a law enforcement owned business?
Please go out to Mellards and show some true LEO support.
They are open Wed-Sat 11am-10pm or later depending on the day.
Here are just some highlights about Mellards:
- [ ] Family Friendly Restaurant/Bar (the place is divided up between dining, games and bar)
- [ ] 7 TV’s (1 is dedicated to Disney for the kids, the others are sports channels)
- [ ] The ladies restroom has an actual child’s potty chair! Where else do you find that?!
- [ ] Tuesday- $1.50 wings all day (Dine-In) and they have some delicious sauces. Way better than those chain wing places!
- [ ] Wednesday- Family friendly Karaoke night (they’ve had a 4-yr old sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” you don’t get more kid-friendly than that!)
- [ ] Thursday- Family friendly Trivia night
- [ ] There are 3 pool tables and a dart board for some fun competition between friends and/or family (younger kids can play too- with adult supervision)
The owner’s goal when opening this place was for law enforcement to have a fun & safe place to go with their families and to hang out with other law enforcement families. You don’t have to go with your spouse, you can just go to enjoy lunch with a friend or to get out of the house for a while. Let’s all help him succeed!
