PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Skilled Plant Mechanic/Millwright position is responsible for proactive and reactive maintenance by utilizing their mechanical aptitude on the development of solutions and building of on existing ideas to make them more effective and efficient. This person must take pride in craftsmanship and understand how machinery works and apply past experiences and intelligence to solve problems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Manage the planning, coordination, documentation and cost control of plant maintenance and repair.
• Facilitate and provide expertise for the fabrication of new equipment, products and processes from R&D projects to production
• Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection
• Maintains, installs, and replaces or repairs machinery
• Documents plant maintenance protocols and activities
• Understand how machinery works and plies past experiences to find solutions and solve problems.
• Utilizing drafting software would be helpful but is not mandatory
• Troubleshoots problems in a timely manner
• Manages the technical safety of processes in compliance with company rules and regulations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no direct reports
QUALIFICATIONS

• At least five years of experience
• Must have mechanical aptitude to identify problems and provide solutions
• Understands how to build and repair tools and equipment
• Design drafting experience preferred
• Experience with material handling
• Steel fabrication experience.
• Skilled in the use of:
o A variety of hand an power tools
o Welding and plasma cutting tools
o Forklift driving
o
LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
COGNITIVE DEMANDS
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Regular Vision abilities, including computer work.
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
This role is performed in both a plant and an office.
