That’s a wrap on our 4th Safety Leadership Academy in 2026!

Another group of leaders equipped with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to influence safety, strengthen their teams, and make a lasting impact.

Proud of the work happening in these classrooms and excited to see how these leaders take what they’ve learned back to their organizations.

Next week, we kick off our final SLA of 2026! We’re finishing the year strong in Cedar Rapids and continuing to develop leaders who are ready to make a difference.

This week, we successfully executed the 3rd Annual Leading with Safety Boot Camp for the The Weitz Company Iowa team. This year, we collaborated with the project site team on a Mission Critical Project.

We leveraged our influence by building on the core values: the foundations of a strong safety culture. This involved a few stories and real life examples from Mike Tousley, Nick Woodard, Emma Matlage and Joe Melton. This collaboration was driven by the pursuit of unity through integrity.

We concluded with a few fun and maybe silly at times role play exercises that allowed participants to utilize their new conversation guide and work plan guide. Finally, Joe concluded the our signature story: "The Duck" or Mr. Ducksworth. With our intentional interactions we influence through the four principles of Ducksworth:
1. Rise up
2. Let it roll the back
3. Be tough
4. Smile

A Joint Venture project has brought together the The Weitz Company and Layton Construction teams to work together on a hyperscale Mission Critical project for the first time. With collective efforts from both management teams we successfully pulled together over 160 key contributors from both organizations for a Leading with Safety Boot Camp.

We leveraged our influence by building on the organizations foundations of a strong safety culture, this involved a few stories and real life examples from Andy Bates, Caleb Modzelewski and Joe Melton. This collaboration was driven by the pursuit of unity through integrity.

Another Safety Leadership Academy in the books! 🎓

We wrapped up Session 3 in Oklahoma this week and sent another group of Change Agents back into their organizations equipped to lead with influence, strengthen safety culture, and make a difference where it matters most.

The classroom may be finished, but the real work starts now.

Today, we remember September 11, 2001, and the nearly 3,000 lives lost.

We honor the victims, remember the families and communities forever changed, and recognize the courage of the first responders and countless others who helped in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We also remember the men and women who answered the call to serve in the years that followed. Those who put on the uniform, deployed overseas, and fought to defend our country, with many making the ultimate sacrifice.

May we never forget the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the generations of Americans who stepped forward to serve. 🇺🇸
