Many thanks to Collider for this information - good news for emerging filmmakers: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are giving the next generation of filmmakers their shot.
Through their production company, Artists Equity, the longtime collaborators are launching Artists Equity Independent Pictures, a new banner dedicated to supporting emerging filmmakers and bringing original stories to the big screen.
Their first projects include A Woman in the Sun, the directorial debut of Nyad screenwriter Julia Cox, starring Renée Zellweger, Sissy Spacek, and Mia Threapleton. They're also developing Downriver, from director Sam Jones and screenwriter Carl Hiaasen.
After building their careers on independent cinema, Affleck and Damon are using their influence to help other storytellers get their chance.
