The "ART HARVEST TOUR" is a free studio tour of central Iowa artists held annually the last full weekend in Sept. Enjoy the beautiful fall weather and scenery as you visit the studios and galleries of the area's best artists. In addition to enjoying the studios, you'll see a much wider selection of the artists work, and great prices and specials too. A number of artists will be demoing their work as well.

There will be around a dozen stops on the approximately 90-mile loop around the beautiful Des Moines River Valley. Several locations will be hosting multiple artists. The Greater Des Moines market has not had professional theatre reviewing for locally produced shows for a long time. The quality of productions is amazing, and these hundreds of production people and the tens of thousands of patrons enjoying these theatrical experiences deserve this.

As with many things that have come to disproportionately favor the wealthiest minority and their congressional enablers, this is yet one more way these people are bastardizing the American way. These people demand all of the benefits this great country offers, especially as it impacts their livelihoods (such as using infrastructure, unbalanced labor laws, etc.), but are unwilling to pay for that access. Not acceptable at all. Words cannot fully describe the kind of self-serving sycophant McConnell has become. If he ever was someone who truly worked for and served the people he represents, he truly has gone completely to "The Dark Side." (apologies Star Wars fans)

One of Iowa's iconic rock'n'roll landmarks is the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Many a rock fan has made the pilgrimage to the final performance location of the artists before "the day the music died" happened. Check out the Iowa History Journal cover story about this moment in history, with never-before-seen photographs, including Buddy Holly in his final concert.

Meet Rocky. Snappy dresser, friend of flannel, and owner of the legendary Stardust Record Store in Thiensville, WI. This weekend, February 2 & 3, Rocky will be manning the Stardust tables at the Rockin’ Record Show at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA. If you are in search of rare 45s or hard-to-find records, seek out this spiritual vinyl advisor, and peruse the numerous boxes of vinyl records that Rocky has brought to the show. Or, if you’re in search of tips on how to accessorize a flannel ensemble, Rocky can help with that, too. Either way, he’ll be at the show this Saturday and Sunday. And be sure to tell Rocky you saw him on Facebook.
